The Ohio Omnibus Survey™ is a quarterly statewide telephone survey conducted of randomly-selected Ohio voters to assess their opinions and preferences about matters of policy, governance and other topics. The interviews are performed by specially-trained opinion research interviewers. Although participants commissioning questions have included trade associations, business and commerce groups, public affairs agencies, government relations agencies, labor unions and political consulting firms, it is open to any public or private organization, association, or committee that wishes to participate, provided that there is no potential conflict of interest with any other questions being asked at the time. In addition to proprietary information for participating organizations, topical questions are often included as a public service to be shared with citizens, interested parties and the general public.
Organizations, associations, committees or other groups can purchase questions on the quarterly survey on a one-time or continuing basis.
Typically, 4 to 5 clients participate in each quarterly survey, and the information for each is proprietary, so none of them are allowed to see questions or results other than their own, nor do they know who else is participating. The organizations that commission the questions exercise full control over the disposition of the results, as they will not be released or acknowledged by Fallon Research & Communications, Inc., unless requested to do so.
The current cost to participate is $4,700, which gets results to 5 closed-ended questions on an 800n (+/- 3.5% estimated overall margin of sampling error) state-wide survey, plus crosstabs by 5 demographic variables. For clients who need more than 5 questions, additional ones may be purchased on a pro-rated basis. A cellular phone sub-sample is also used, in order to ensure inclusion of voters in households that do not have land-line or VOIP telephone service. Although additional questions may be purchased on a pro-rated basis, the minimum amount for any participating organization is 5 questions.
If needed, assistance will be provided to prepare the wording of the questions in consultation with participating organizations. For a small additional fee, a short memorandum of key findings can be prepared, if needed.
Although the particular questions purchased by participating organizations are proprietary and remain strictly confidential, so they will not be released, some questions of topical interest are included in the surveys for general dissemination to the public. The questions that served as the basis for these releases were not funded or commissioned by any organizations, and were included in the Ohio Omnibus Survey™ because they were deemed to be topical matters of general public interest.
